I haven’t really had much time to “feel Christmassy” this year. Maybe the limited pool of Christmas songs don’t help, they have been repeated so many times, they’ve lost all meaning.
So imagine my surprise when I started feeling quite festive and wintery after listening to this clip from Norwegian megastar Sissel. I say megastar, she’s one of the biggest Norwegian exports and is simultaneously a bit of an unknown outside Scandinavia and a pretty massive seller. This is due to her large part in the vocals of the Titanic soundtrack, which sold 30 million copies in the late 90s, and yet Celine gets all the glory. C’est la vie.
Anyway, this is a really lovely cover of an ABBA track, from their wonderfully sad final album The Visitors.
Happy Christmas everyone!
